Responsibilities Work in the IMC / General Telemetry unit within an acute care, Level I trauma, and Magnet-designated hospital Patient population includes cardiac, surgical, renal, neurological, and respiratory cases with an average daily census of 38 Handles patients requiring telemetry monitoring, cardiac procedures, and post-surgical care Night shifts available, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 18 : 45 to 07 : 15 Required to work every other weekend Floating to similar units and potentially affiliate hospitals is required Uses Cerner EMR and experience with this system is required No on-call responsibilities Responsibilities include monitoring telemetry patients, managing complex cardiac and medical surgical care, and supporting a varied patient population Team-oriented environment with support for both experienced and first-time travelers Scrubs in any solid color are acceptable Parking permit provided at no cost upon orientation Applicants must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment RTO of up to 5 days is strongly preferred; requests over 5 days require facility approval Former perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler Requirements Active IL RN license in hand required for consideration Current ACLS and BLS certifications from AHA or Red Cross; RQI cards not accepted Minimum 2 years of recent IMC, telemetry, or stepdown experience Proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management Experience in post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, cardiac surgery care, and sheath removal Skills in feeding tube care, pre / post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, IV therapy, and phlebotomy Competence with heparin protocols, vasoactive / cardiac drips, and pain management procedures Experience with surgical drains, chest tubes, CPAP / BiPAP, and various oxygen delivery methods Experience with wound care, wound vacs, and isolation precautions required Cerner charting experience required Recent charge nurse, teaching hospital, or Level I trauma experience preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627581.
