General Description :

Plans directs and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions of Audubon County Memorial Hospital during an assigned shift. Coordinates the nursing activities of the hospital and directs organizes and assigns work to the nursing staff. Assesses monitors and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Coordinates activities within the hospital including assisting with staffing patient flow and coordination of hospital activities. Assists as directed in data collection and monitoring aspects of patient care. Acts as a resource person for nursing staff and also for other departments within the hospital as indicated. Manages situations that arise in the hospital. The House Supervisor is a Registered Nurse that demonstrates leadership and provides guidance to the health care team while they are providing services to patients and / or families. The House Supervisor serves as a resource person to staff providers and patients. They determine staffing needs monitor bed availability and appropriate placement of patients. The nurse in this role assumes an interdisciplinary role by assuming responsibilities for various departments in the absence of administration.

Experience / Education Requirements :

Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa is mandatory. Prior supervisory experience in a hospital-setting preferred. Emergency department experience preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of hospital nursing experience required. Must be familiar with electronic health records and have basic computer skills. Must maintain all certifications as required by job function or by law. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation.
