Illuminate USA, a new standalone joint venture established by two global leaders in renewable energy, is building one of the largest solar panel manufacturing factories in the Western Hemisphere.

This 1.1 million-square-foot factory is currently in advanced stages of preparation in the Columbus, Ohio area. Job Summary :

As the Customs Specialist at Illuminate USA, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our international trade activities adhere to all relevant customs regulations and compliance standards.

This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in customs operations, trade compliance, and cross-border logistics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing our customs and trade compliance program, ensuring that our import / export processes are efficient, legally compliant, and align with industry best practices.

Responsibilities :

• Classify commodities under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule ( HTS ), and audit current classifications being used by Illuminate’s customs broker.
• Determine applicability of tariffs, quotas, and anti-dumping duties.
• Assist in duty optimization, to include tracking changes related anti-dumping duties.
• Communicate with Illuminate’s customs broker about accuracy of ISF and import entries.
• Manage shipments imported under a Temporary Import Bond ( TIB ).
• Audit import entries.
• Assist with drafting, editing, and ensuring compliance with Illuminate’s trade policies and procedures.
• Work with the logistics team to ensure compliance of Illuminate USA international shipments.
• Ensure shipments are compliant with US Customs, UFLPA, and other government agencies ( PGA )
• Assist the Head of Trade Compliance with responses to US Customs (CF-28, CF-29, or detentions), as well as, assist with responses related to penalty mitigation.

Qualifications :

• Licensed Customs Broker
• Minimum of (2) two years of experience with a customs broker or supply chain logistics; (5) five years of experience preferred.
• Prior experience in a compliance role (preferred)
• Experience with the Automated Commercial environment ( ACE ) and knowledge of how to pull ACE reports.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office products.
• Familiarity with C-TPAT and Free Trade Zones (desired)
• Position is located in Ohio. The position maybe a hybrid role. The individual is allowed to work remotely; however, at least one day a week the individual must be able to drive to the office for in-person meetings at Columbus / Pataskala, Ohio.
• No relocation is available.
• The position reports directly to the Head of Trade Compliance within the legal department.
