Payroll and Benefits Specialist JO#
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will lead the full-cycle administration of payroll and benefits. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining procedures and audits to ensure compliance.
- Review timecards and enter payroll time data into a HRIS system for bi-weekly payroll processing
- Ensure accurate administration of garnishments, withholding, and remittance
- Establish auditing practices to ensure accuracy for each payroll cycle
- Review tax information and direct deposits
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Serve as a SME on the payroll system and provide training and guidance to HR, managers, and employees
- Lead benefits administration including open enrollment, new hire enrollment, life event changes, and termination events
- Foster relationships with brokers and vendors
- Reconcile monthly insurance billing
- Update and maintain employee records including paid time off, benefits, promotions, terminations, new hires, and internal job changes and salary increases
- Administer leave to include processing leave request forms, determining eligibility, and preparing and distributing forms and letters
- Assist with unemployment claim responses
- Develop auditing procedures to ensure accuracy for year-end reporting
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
- Bachelor’s degree
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Team player attitude and ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to act with integrity and maintain high levels of confidentiality
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal laws
- High proficiency in MS Excel
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly shift tasks
