Director of Scholarly Inquiry

The Director of Scholarly Inquiry provides strategic leadership, oversight, and mentorship for all research and scholarly activities conducted by residents, fellows, and faculty at Henry Ford Health Providence Hospital. The Director ensures compliance with institutional, regulatory, and ethical standards governing both animal and human subjects research, while fostering a culture of inquiry, academic rigor, and professional integrity across all training programs.

This role serves as the central point of coordination for research education, IRB and IACUC compliance, research day and scholarly project development within the Graduate Medical Education enterprise.

Key Responsibilities :

A. Leadership and Program Oversight

• Provide vision and leadership for the Scholarly Inquiry Program to advance the research mission of GME and the institution.
• Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of resident and fellow scholarly activity requirements.
• Collaborate with program directors, faculty mentors, and institutional offices to enhance research quality, mentorship, and productivity.
• Ensure equitable access to research support and resources for all trainees.
• Lead regular meetings, workshops, and educational sessions to promote research literacy and professional scholarship.

Reporting Structure :

The Director of Scholarly Inquiry reports directly to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and works collaboratively with the Office of Research Administration, IRB, IACUC, and Program Directors to support the institution's academic mission.
