Lead FPGA / Electronics Design Engineer

Acara Solutions is seeking a Lead FPGA / Electronics Design Engineer to join our client on a Full Time Direct Hire opportunity located in Billerica, MA.

Job Summary

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Derive requirements for electronic design tasks from system specifications and customer input.
• Perform hardware / software system design trade-offs.
• Design digital electronics, including FPGAs, digital video systems, microprocessors, and DAC / ADC circuits.
• Create FPGA designs from block diagrams to HDL coding (Verilog / VHDL).
• Collaborate with system, software, mechanical, and PCB layout engineers to refine requirements and interfaces.
• Define schedules with project managers and coordinate with manufacturing on test and assembly processes.
• Conduct design verification : develop test plans, run / debug tests, and document results.
• Generate schematics, layouts, BOMs, and design rules; work with PCB designers to deliver circuit card assemblies.
• Prepare and present technical design reviews; participate in peer reviews.
• Specify components and work with vendors / purchasing.
• Maintain design documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support integration, debugging, and production transfer.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
