Cath Lab Tech Per Diem Position Summary

Technician providing technical and patient support and patient care. Communicates continuously with the physician about patient condition.

Assist physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures. Operates all equipment safely and correctly. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness.

Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiac Cath Laboratory team are met. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Technician is authorize to be in the presence of medications.

Must live within 30 minutes of the campus for Call back. Cath Lab expr required.

THE CATH LAB TECH PER DIEM CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

MINIMUM EDUCATION : Completion of formal two year radiologic technology training in AMA approved school which meets requirements for registry by the ARRT.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE : Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registration; current Arizona MRTBE license; current BLS and ACLS

REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING : Must attend EKG, Hemodynamics, IABP classes within four months of hire.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATION : ARRT(CI), (VI) or ARRT (CV)

SPECIAL SKILLS : Demonstrated critical thinking skills to be able to pass orientation.

LI-BL1

Assesses physical, psychosocial, and growth and development needs of the patient. Completes pre, intra and post procedure assessment.

Informs nurse / MD of any changes in patient’s condition. Develops a plan of care for procedure being performed, plan of care is individualized to include specific patient problems, needs and scheduled procedure.

Provides teaching and guidance to patient and / or family as well as staff members. Able to execute x-ray for desired views - abdominal aorta gram, runoff, division.

Stores and print images. Sets priorities for care of patients based on patient's needs and resources available. Identifies and performs appropriately in emergency patient care solutions.

Has knowledge of set up and monitoring of IABP. Assists with set-up, insertion, and care of temporary and permanent pacemakers.

Education :

Required : Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent, basic EKG course.

Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or equivalent.

Experience :

Required : 6 months in cath lab / cardiac intervention lab.

Preferred : 1 year experience providing cardiac cath, radiology care.

Certifications :

Required : BLS, ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Preferred : RCIS certification.
