JOB DESCRIPTION
Teach Psychology courses and advise and engage in research with students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full-time faculty members teach classes as monitored through annual teaching evaluations, mentor and engage students in research with peer-reviewed professional publications required for promotion and serve on academic committees as required for professional service.
- Full-time faculty members participate in professional activities to enhance student learning experiences and in activities as assigned by the Department Chair.
- In the College of Science and Engineering, full-time undergraduate faculty members must teach 24-25 load hours per academic year, usually fulfilled in the Behavioral Sciences department by teaching eight undergraduate psychology courses per academic year (not including summer) in the areas of research methodology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, and possible elective courses in the field of sports psychology.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chair of Behavioral Sciences.
REQUIREMENTS
Education : Requires a Master's degree in the field of Psychology. However, a Ph.D. in the field of Psychology is preferred (preference will be given to candidates with a background in Cognitive or Sports Psychology).
Experience / Skills / Abilities : A minimum of one year of full-time teaching at the university / college level (graduate or undergraduate) is required (two years if part-time adjunct).
Demonstrated ability in producing publications and engaging students in research is preferred. Candidates with a background in sports / performance psychology will be given preference.
Successful candidates will demonstrate professional interpersonal written and verbal communication and always maintain a high degree of professionalism.
