The YMCA of Orange County is looking to hire Youth Development Staff to assist with a swimming program. During this program students will be conducting rotations where part of the time will be in a pool under the supervision of lifeguards and another portions outside of the pool where staff will be conducting activities with the students. The group of students will range from ages 5-12 years of age. Staff will be responsible for general supervision of a group of 20 children to ensure safety, assist with program areas and lead activities. Program hours are between 2 : 30pm and 5 : 30pm, Tuesday through Friday. The program will be held at our Newport YMCA
The key roles of this position include :
- Plan, implement, and oversee curriculum-aligned activities for participants, including homework assistance, social-emotional learning, arts and crafts, STEM / STEAM, and physical education.
- Foster youth success through mentorship, guidance, and encouragement, actively encouraging program engagement and participation.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of programs, services, and activities to uphold participant safety, maintain program excellence, and always ensure a well-maintained facility or classroom environment.
- Support participants in making positive choices, implementing appropriate disciplinary actions when needed to create a stable and nurturing atmosphere conducive to their success.
- Communicate and work effectively with participants, staff, parents, school personnel, and community partners.
- Attend and actively participate in all required staff development workshops, meetings, and trainings.
- Record and maintain daily attendance and other documentation as required
