Application Engineer (Mechanical)
We are actively seeking a dynamic Applications Engineer with a Mechanical background to join our team in LaGrange, GA. As an Applications Engineer, you will play a crucial role in serving our customer base and offsite account managers by analyzing Request for Quote (RFQ) documents and customer specifications.
Your primary responsibilities will include preparing costing documents and technical written proposals for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and EMP (Equipment Modernization Projects).
The successful candidate will be adept at creating comprehensive technical solutions, including mechanical drawings and layouts, to meet customer requirements.
Requirements :
- Relevant bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical preferred), or equivalent work experience (3 to 10 years) if the degree is not completed.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in Sales, Engineering, or Proposal Group with a bachelors degree.
- Knowledgeable in MS programs (Excel, Word), database programs, and CAD. Basic macro computer language skills are a plus.
- Mechanical drawing reading and basic algebra calculation skills are a requirement. Competitive product knowledge is a plus. Job Details :
- Review RFQ for clarification and definition, contacting offsite account managers and customers for further details.
- Analyze provided customer specifications (mechanical drawings and technical write-ups) for scope of supply.
- Develop new technical proposals, including design and / or drawing concepts via CAD (20% of proposals prepared required).
- Acquire costing data for computing margin pricing using company computer systems and programs.
- Calculate selling price according to company guidelines, procedures, and processes.
- Maintain organized proposal logs and files in company-designated databases.
- Ensure full costing traceability and accuracy.
- Develop and implement customer-specific proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to offsite account managers.
- Meet scheduled deadlines.
- Participate in company continuous improvement programs.
- Support in-house mechanical assembly of components and equipment.
- Work closely with warehouse operations to identify and stage appropriate components for equipment or sub-assemblies.
- Communicate the need for engineering changes using Engineering Change Requests.
- Perform minor repairs where possible using various shop tools. Annual Salary :
