The Manager - Sanitation Business Administration performs highly advanced and complex management and oversight of activities for daily operations of an operating unit or functional program. This position oversees the strategy, planning, and performance improvement as well as manages environmental safety, customer service, route optimization, and data analysis systems.
Essential Functions
- Manages, oversees, and provides direction for the business administration activities for the Sanitation department; provides leadership, manages staff, and delegates responsibility of tasks to subordinates.
- Identifies needed areas of training and or development and institutes changes to improve operations; monitors tracking systems and other information systems supporting the sanitation program and initiatives.
- Provides technical guidance to personnel performing business support; manages work load and work flow, oversees permitting activities and licensing, and ensures accuracy of business functions.
- Develops and implements budget and resource allocation for the department; tracks and oversees revenues and expenditures to ensure all necessary funding is requested; collaborates with other managers and stakeholders to identify funding needs.
- Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, and conferences, as well as on boards, panels, and committees.
- Establishes, determines, and implements short-, mid- and long-term goals and objectives; develops and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals and directs evaluation activities.
- Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Sanitation Business Administration Manager-Zero Waste
Develop and implement zero waste strategies, policies, and initiatives to achieve waste reduction and diversion goals.Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize waste reduction opportunities.Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, and conferences, as well as on boards, panels, and committees.Lead public education campaigns to promote zero waste practices among residents and local businesses.Collect and analyze data on waste generation, diversion rates, and program performance. Assist with oversight of the City's composting program.Establishes, determines, and implements short-, mid- and long-term goals and objectives; develops and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals and directs evaluation activities.Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the Sanitation activities of the City.Knowledge of budget management and ability to develop and implement budget.Ability to manage business activities through the supervision of subordinate supervisors and staff.Ability to devise solutions to administrative problems and plan, assign, and delegate responsibility.Ability to develop and evaluate administrative polices and procedures.Communicating effectively and in writing.Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in any field.Experience :
Six (6) years of experience in any of the following : Zero Waste, Recycling Systems, Environmental Policies AND Three (3) years of supervisory / management responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)Equivalency :
An associate degree in any field plus ten (10) years of the required experience including three (3) years of supervisory / management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.License :
Valid driver's license with good driving record.Salary Range
$93,914.91 - $117,393.63 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
