The Title Specialist oversees the end-to-end titling and lien perfection process for AmeriTrust’s auto finance portfolio, including both leases and retail loans. This role ensures that all vehicle titles are properly perfected in compliance with state and federal regulations, manages relationships with DMVs and third-party vendors, and leads the internal title team. The Title Specialist protects Ameritrust’s secured interest in its portfolio while ensuring accurate and timely processing for dealers and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the title department, including the receipt, review, and processing of titles, electronic lien / titles (ELT), and registration documents.
- Ensure proper lien perfection and registration in all states where AmeriTrust operates.
- Develop and maintain title policies and procedures to meet regulatory, legal, and investor requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships for titling, registration, and vehicle transport / inspection (as applicable).
- Track and resolve exceptions such as missing titles, incorrect lienholder information, or delayed DMV filings.
- Collaborate with Funding, Servicing, Compliance, and Collections teams to resolve title-related issues (repos, insurance claims, lease turn-ins, etc.).
- Maintain reporting on title status, exceptions, and turnaround times for executive and compliance oversight.
- Train, coach, and supervise title team members to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Support audits, securitization due diligence, and state regulatory exams by providing accurate title documentation.
- Continuously evaluate titling workflows for automation and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in auto finance titling, DMV processing, or lien administration, with at least 2 years in a supervisor or management role.Strong knowledge of multi-state DMV, ELT, and lien perfection requirements.Familiarity with auto finance systems (VITU, Dealertrack, RouteOne, or equivalent).Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation.Ability to manage vendor performance and internal team metrics.Preferred Skills
Experience with lease-specific title workflows , including handling lease returns and residual dispositions.Knowledge of repossession and remarketing title requirements.Strong understanding of compliance and audit requirements for secured lending.Requirements :
