Location : Decatur, Illinois (62526) – Central Illinois healthcare jobs
Facility : Acute Care Hospital – Cardiac ICU, Level II Trauma Center
Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
Start Date : November 24, 2025
End Date : February 23, 2026
Duration : 13-week contract
Shift : Nights, 12-hour shifts (18 : 00 – 06 : 30)
Hours per Week : 36
Estimated Weekly Pay : $2000 - $2050
Patient Ratio : 1 : 2 in ICU, up to 1 : 5 in IMC team
Unit : 20-bed Cardiac ICU
Charting System : Cerner
Scrub Color : Royal Blue
Parking : Free with permit
ICU RN Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience (cardiac ICU or CVICU preferred)
Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (required at time of application)
Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA or Red Cross only)
Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and advanced cardiac devices (Impella, IABP, TVP) preferred
Experience with ventilator management, arterial / central line care, and titration of cardiac / vasoactive drips
Ability to float within scope to other units as needed
Availability to work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities for Cardiac ICU RN
Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill adult patients with cardiac and multi-system conditions
Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, perform 12-lead EKGs, and respond to emergencies
Provide pre- and post-cardiac catheterization / intervention care
Manage chronic and acute renal failure, administer blood products, and perform IV therapy (arterial / central / PICC line management)
Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
Assist with respiratory and ventilator management (BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning)
Participate in infection prevention, isolation precautions, and rapid / code blue response
Float to other units within scope as needed to support facility operations
