Senior Medical Technologist

The Senior Medical Technologist performs, evaluates and reports routine and STAT laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids. Tests are performed using various automated and manual methods.

The Sr Medical Technologist hired for the purpose of working on 2nd and 3rd shifts must be able to work in the following laboratory departments : Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Serology, Urinalysis, Blood Bank and perform all required test procedures in each department.

The Sr Medical Technologist hired for the purpose of working on the 1st shift must be able to perform all required test procedures in the department(s) by which he / she has been hired. The Sr Medical Technologist is responsible for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control evaluation and problem solving, and quality assurance data collection.

Requirements :

• Must be licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department and be certified as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT.
• Baccalaureate degree or a foreign equivalent in Medical Technology or related science field.
• Must meet NYS Department of Health qualifications for Medical Technologist as stated in Public Health Law Part 58.1-1.5.
• Previous experience working in a highly automated environment preferred.
• Independent, mature, self-motivated, reliable and responsible.
• Able to serve the needs of patients ages neonatal to geriatric.
• Able to deal with all types of customers in a pleasant, professional manner.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills and a strong ability to multitask.

Salary Range : $32.20-$50.56 / hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
