Project Manager

Apex Systems is seeking a project manager to oversee the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure of a variety of projects and initiatives. You'll play the critical role of implementing key initiatives for production groups and within the Technology team. Ideal candidates will serve as the project manager and point of contact with the show production teams. They will communicate directly with the shows to intake production requests, provide updates, assess priority and track schedules, gather technical requirements and manage the show project plans.

Contract : 18 months

Rate : $80+ / hr

Location : Hybrid / Burbank, CA

Responsibilities :

• Lead multiple concurrent shows and technology initiatives throughout their lifecycle. This includes project intake, use case definition, charter and scope definition, project plan development, capacity allocations, resource assignment, project execution, and post mortems.
• Manage tasks and resources through waterfall, scrum, or kanban methodologies. Lead coordination with other project managers and business resources to assign tasks to the Studio Technology engineers in the USA and ensure tasks are completed by production timeline.
• Prioritize and escalate critical operational tasks, execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Lead calls with productions based on the phase of the show : pre-production, production, and post production.
• Assist in communicating needs, breakfixes, and issues that productions have to technology engineers to deliver / fix.
• Establish, track, and report on project progress (key tasks and milestones), risks, and issues to engineering management, program management, and stakeholders.
• Leverage Studio Technology's business intelligence application (e.g., PowerBI) for executive reporting; utilize KPIs to assess program, project, sprint planning, and resource velocity health; and lead corrective actions as required.
• Apply analytical and critical thinking to identify team inefficiencies and risk areas, and implement projects or processes to improve operations.
• Create workflow diagrams of production technology processes and identify opportunities to streamline processes or improve efficiency.

Additional Information : Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, or related technical discipline. Location : Burbank, CA Onsite 4 days per week. Flexibility to work 3 days onsite if needed. Strike Team PM to support productions Work closely with Senior Production Managers Working with a number of productions facing team members Milestone reporting-providing updates regularly This individual will not be a scrum master -Wants Waterfall methodology Will need an exceptionally detail oriented person working with engineering teams to set up servers Supporting production stage Funneling tickets to address technical related issues Ideal to have Power BI but not required Must haves : Experience with reporting tools-report on progress of show trackers Fluent in Smartsheet and Jira-at least one of the tools is required to have Must have Risk management, and know how to resolve issues

Preferred Qualifications : Previous experience working in a Content Creation / Production environment Experience working in media, entertainment, or studio / production environments. Experienced with Business Intelligence tools such as MS Power BI PMP certification a plus Certified Scrum Master a plus
