Lutheran Social Services (LSS) Fahrman Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor to join our residential treatment team. Located in a 42-bed adult facility, our program provides evidence-based, client-centered addiction treatment for both men and women. We offer a warm, home-like environment with a full continuum of care, including aftercare planning, family programming, and halfway house services. The right candidate will possess a valid credential as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor from Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Schedule & Compensation
- Primarily Monday through Friday
- Occasional evening hours may be required
- Compensation based on licensure level
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, you will :
Provide addiction counseling and case management services in residential, outpatient, or community-based settingsConduct assessments, diagnostics, screenings, and referrals using tools such as UPC, ASAM, AODA, SUDDs, and DSM / ICD-10 (with supervision as needed)Offer Employment Specialist services to clients when applicableMaintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state, federal, and agency standardsFacilitate individual and group therapy sessionsCommunicate effectively with internal teams and external partnersParticipate in outreach and public education effortsCoordinate comprehensive case management and connect clients with community resourcesAttend staff development activities including trainings, meetings, and clinical supervisionEnsure services meet all program, licensing, and contractual requirementsBuild and maintain strong professional relationshipsServe as a positive role model for clients and their familiesPerform additional duties as assignedWhy Join LSS?

To be successful in this role, candidates should have :
At least 1 year of experience working with a correctional population (preferred or required based on contract)Strong understanding of addiction recovery, counseling, and case managementAbility to learn and apply federal, state, and local regulations related to SUD servicesValid Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) license from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional ServicesAdditional Requirements
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportationSatisfactory motor vehicle record per LSS Driver Safety ProcedureAbility to meet LSS auto insurance requirementsValid SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC credentialTravel Expectations
