(CPT) Certified Phlebotomy Technician II - 128796

Under direct and constant supervision performs specimen processing, accessioning, phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks, customer service, clerical duties, effective communication with laboratory customers, problem resolution, record keeping, supply inventory and maintenance, as well as cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment.

Additional duties will include operation of instruments, preventative maintenance as appropriate to each section / dept assigned.

Performs all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. (See general non-technical section for details).

For technical duties related to a specific section, see that section of this JDC. Must have current Phlebotomy Certification issued by the state of California Laboratory Field Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

BLS and / or BART at time of hire with commitment to get BART w / in 6 months of hire date.

Knowledge of Hospital Isolation, Infection Control protocols, patient comfort / safety.

Experience working in related lab, preferably in a large, complex healthcare system.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrate skills in basic collection and specimen preparation, storage and disposal of specimen.

Knowledge of Scientific Terminology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Two (2) years of hospital experience.
• One to two (1 - 2) years of experience with hospital automation.
• Proven experience with specimen processing.
• Demonstrated experience working in high volume lab.
• Must have Valid California Driver's License.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
• Must work variable shifts, weekend rotations, holidays, and swing shifts.
• May be required to travel to other UCSD sites.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $53,996 - $67,129 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $25.86 - $32.15
