IT Physician Liaison
Job Description
The Information Technology Physician Liaison is a subject matter expert working with clinical staff to provide comprehensive clinical support by :
- Providing ongoing and just-in-time Epic clinical training and associated support so that clinicians have a detailed understanding of the application at an operational level, to provide optimal patient care.
- Advocating for system changes that enhance clinical usage, provide business value and align with TCHHN goals
- Triaging, troubleshooting and problem resolution for the IT systems, including in-depth application troubleshooting and problem resolution with the assistance of the TCHNN IT teams.
- Assessing and evaluating incoming clinician calls, taking prompt action to resolve the issue.
Responsibilities
Provides required phone coverage, manages phone requests in the expected manner, tracks calls via Assyst tickets, adds the appropriate comments to, and closes or escalates the incident tickets and related issues in a timely manner
Provides high quality support for Clinician staff for the Epic system and other clinical applications as used by Ambulatory (including Community Affiliates) and inpatient locations.
Handles initial problem recognition and researches with a goal of first call resolution. Escalates more complex problems to the next level support when needed contacting the Help Desk
Promotes maximum utilization of Epic by the Clinical Staff by working with individual staff members to improve their skill with epic / clinical applications and workflow process though the ambulatory and inpatient optimization process
Provides basic training and at the elbow support for system utilization
Works with Epic Education Coordinators to provide feedback and insight to training content
Maintains competency with application enhancements as they relate to the business process, current technology, software and hardware
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS : The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above :
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Acts as liaison with Help Desk to provide end user support.
- Participates on other Information Technology teams and committees.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
EDUCATION : An associate clinical degree is required (RN, RT, PT, OT, pharm tech degrees)
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE : 1 year minimum clinical / education experience strongly preferred
PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE :
- Licensed entry level clinician or clinical student strongly preferred
- Experience in providing end user support and training in a clinical care setting minimum of 1 year
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure, persevere in challenging situations and deliver timely and effective results
- Ability to work with all levels of management
