Marine Electrician
Marine Electricians are tasked with the installation, testing, and repair of marine cables and equipment. They are responsible for the installation and connection of lighting and electrical power, as well as troubleshooting and repairing shipboard and facility electrical systems. This role requires the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, as well as various testing equipment. Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and schematics is essential.
Responsibilities :
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches or moving heavy objects.
- Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators.
- Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
Essential Skills :
High School DiplomaAt least 5 years of working experience in electrical installations, or vocational degree with at least 3 years of experience.Ability to work in various positions and environments, including heights and confined spaces.Experience in building connectors, terminating, splicing, and routing cables.Proficient in reading and comprehending blueprints and technical manuals.Knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting using tools like meggers and multimeters.Willingness to work overtime, second shifts, and travel as required.Ability to obtain a SECRET level security clearance.Additional Skills & Qualifications :
Apprenticeship, Associate's Degree, or trade school certificate in Engineering or related field.Experience with fiber optics, pinning connectors, and building / assembling cables.Valid Driver's License.Desired certifications include Cableway Certification, Multi-Pin Connector Certification, and Fiber Optic Certification.Why Work Here?

Work Environment :
The work environment involves working on submarines and surface ships, often requiring travel within the continental United States. Pay and Benefits :
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
