About the Role
We've built a strong engine for acquiring venture assets. Our next frontier is elevating portfolio monitoring and building a disciplined, proactive liquidity function. The market for secondary transactions is evolving quickly, and our scale requires greater structure, visibility, and leadership around when and how we return capital.
The VP, Portfolio will oversee and drive our overall liquidity strategy, leading the team responsible for monitoring our portfolio, identifying exit pathways, and preparing and evaluating opportunities. While this role is closely involved in transactions, the emphasis is on strategy, governance, prioritization, and team leadership rather than direct execution.
The Mandate : Bring a more intentional, repeatable, and forward-looking approach to liquidity; bridging our acquisition engine with a stronger, more reliable exit engine.
What You'll Do
Liquidity Strategy & Execution Oversight
- Lead the overall liquidity and exit strategy, setting priorities and guiding the team on preparation, structuring options, and recommended pathways.
- Oversee the sourcing and evaluation of secondary sales and other liquidity routes (e.g., structured solutions, emerging digital or alternative platforms).
- Maintain a dynamic, ranked pipeline of exit opportunities by company and expected timing.
- Oversee the "Exit Memo" process; ensuring memos are clear, rigorous, and ready for leadership review.
Portfolio Monitoring
Build and refine consistent processes for operating updates, early-warning signals, opportunity windows, and risk flags across the portfolio.Drive systematic review of top positions (the AV 50) : internal valuations, thesis tracking, risk assessments, and refresh cycles.AV 50 & Valuation Governance
Establish and oversee the internal value-setting process for the AV 50, including methodology, cadence, and decision rights.Ensure a high-quality governance process informed by market data, company performance, and internal analysis.Market Development & Innovation
Maintain and deepen relationships with secondary buyers, syndicates, specialty funds, and emerging liquidity platforms.Lead strategic thinking around new models for private-market liquidity, including future digital or technology-enabled pathways.Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner closely with Investing, Legal / Compliance, Finance, and Investor Relations to ensure aligned execution and communication.Ensure dashboards, memos, and updates both internal and external; are clear, proactive, and consistent with leadership expectations.Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and scale the Portfolio Liquidity & Monitoring team.Build a culture of collaboration, precision, and operational discipline.Strengthen cross-functional relationships to improve execution speed and organizational alignment.What You'll Accomplish in Your First 12 Months
Liquidity : 35 liquidity or structured-exit events guided and successfully executed through the team; established run-rate thereafter.Coverage : 100% of AV 50 with current internal values, refreshed quarterly, with documented theses and risk / opportunity profiles.Pipeline : Live, prioritized, probability-weighted exit pipeline with monthly review.Capital Velocity : Measurable capital returned to investors; improved recirculation of capital.Communication : Clear, predictable updates with no surprises for leadership or investors.Systems Built : Strong monitoring, governance, and exit-pipeline processes in place.
Who You Are
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or similar advanced credential preferred.10+ years in private markets, venture, secondaries, or adjacent liquidity-focused roles.Track record overseeing or executing secondary or structured transactions.Strong understanding of late-stage private-company dynamics and valuation frameworks.Experience building monitoring, valuation, or governance systems.Exceptional relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.Experienced in private-market dynamics, secondaries, or structured solutions.Skilled at making decisions with imperfect data and navigating fast-moving environments.Curious about evolving liquidity technologies without requiring deep technical expertise.Impactful communicator who can distill complex situations into crisp, leadership-ready insights.Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable building new capabilities rather than inheriting established playbooks.A strategic operator who combines investor judgment with creativity around.Compensation includes a base salary between $180,000 - $210,000 plus equity and corporate bonus
