Job description

Idaho’s premier suspension and drivetrain shop is seeking a skilled and experienced Gear Installer & Suspension Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual who specializes in differential gear setup and drivetrain repair, with additional experience in suspension systems and alignments.

While the qualifications below reflect our ideal candidate, we’re open to considering talented individuals with solid experience and a strong work ethic—even if every box isn't checked.

Primary Responsibilities – Gear Installation Focus :

  • Diagnose, disassemble, and rebuild differentials (Dana, Ford, GM, etc.)
  • Precisely set up ring and pinion gears, including proper backlash, preload, and gear pattern setup.
  • Install lockers, limited-slip differentials, and aftermarket gear sets.
  • Perform driveline repairs and service front driveline components (e.g., axles, CV joints, yokes)
  • Troubleshoot gear-related noise and vibration issues.
  • Maintain clean, accurate records of all drivetrain work performed.

Secondary Responsibilities – Suspension & Shop Duties :

  • Perform basic suspension repairs, component replacements, and alignments.
  • Rebuild and service shocks as needed.
  • Conduct general suspension maintenance and repairs on off-road, on-road and high-performance vehicles.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and equipment safety.
  • Perform minor repairs on shop tools and equipment (lifts, jacks, air tools, etc.)
  • Complete time sheets and job documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in differential gear installation or drivetrain repair.
  • Experience with suspension systems and alignments preferred.
  • Experience with shock servicing or rebuilding a plus, but not required.
  • ASE certifications a plus, but not required.
  • Must own and maintain your own tools in good working condition.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and maintain a high standard of craftsmanship.
