Production Designer - Facebook Design System
Design Systems is a team of ~50 people reporting into the Foundation pillar. We are experienced systems designers, working on the functionality and performance of the design library and corresponding tools we offer. We ensure product teams have the most accurate and functional design system possible so that every design file, every design conversation and decision is relevant and meaningful to the Facebook app and its users.
Responsibilities
- Organize, maintain, and distribute a large library of files
- Create, revise, and maintain individual component files
- Provide detailed design specs for existing components
- Update and maintain design system component documentation
- Help product designers explore new variants for existing components
- Help develop and maintain both team and cross-functional processes
- Update and maintain templates for key product screens and flows
- Create, organize, track, and assign tasks (passing design specs to engineers, updating Design Kit and other internal tools, etc.)
- Troubleshoot issues with design files (layer structure / organization)
- Provide help / guidance in relevant support groups
- Conduct extensive design audits (iOS / Android / Web, screenshots / video recordings)
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years' relevant design experienceExperience working on design systems, toolkit development and stewardshipExperience in Figma, limitations, and executionExperience Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)Experience with file management and versioning (Dropbox, Google Drive, GitHub)Experience training others and scaling the organization / product / team knowledge baseExperience with Apple Keynote and Google SlidesExperience designing native platforms (iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows) as well as web for both mobile and desktopFamiliar with HTML / CSS / Basic MarkupDemonstrated experience in a highly detail-oriented and a process forward environmentExperience thriving in the face of rapidly shifting priorities and occasional project ambiguityPreferred Qualifications
Experienced using and maintaining a task system for the intake and tracking of workInterested in the code side of components or experienced shipping code diffsExperience supporting a large design system (100+ designers)Familiarity with branching and merging work flowsDemonstrated prototyping skillsetPrevious experience building a design system supporting 100+ designersExperience communicating ideas and present well in order to gain consensus on new ideas and processesExperience advocating for design systems teams, and interested in nurturing partnerships with product teams$94,000 / year to $142,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
