Position Summary :
The Student Services Specialist 1 provides a full range of student services support, including assisting students in navigating college systems, student records management, registration, and eligibility. This role guides students through the enrollment process, maintains and updates student academic records, schedules new student testing, and works with Division Teams to advise students in multiple areas of College programs and processes, including :
Adult EducationHigh School Equivalency TestingEnrollment and RegistrationNew Student OrientationAssessment and TestingWelcome DeskThe work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings.
Continued employment in the position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Guides and facilitates student admissions, program eligibility, course selection and registrationProvides in-depth advising for new and returning ABECC students on the various class modalities and helps identify the programming options that meet student needs in ABECC programsMonitors and answers student inquiries using online services, email, and phone. Implements department operational procedures, forms, and processes in coordination with the District Office specifications and other campus departmentsFacilitate student tutorials and guidance in the use of student portals and online student servicesFacilitates and supports outreach and enrollment events and student engagement activitiesProcess and maintain accurate and detailed student records; Initiate and manage associated correspondence related to student enrollment, data entry, and retrieve information from databases; ensure completeness and accuracy of the information submittedPrepare a variety of technical documents that involve : collecting and verifying information; assembling, compiling and printing reports; proofreading and distributing reportsMaintain confidential records and sustain impeccable accuracy to sustain compliance standardsSupport new student orientation by providing program information and assisting students with digital literacy skillsPerform other duties of a similar nature or level as requiredJob Requirements :
High school diploma or GED andUp to one year of experience in student / customer serviceor
An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed abovePreferred :
Bilingual : SpanishOne to three years of related experience30 credits (1 year) of post secondary educationThe ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities :
