Youth On Their Own (YOTO) supports the high school graduation and continued success of youth experiencing homelessness. For nearly 40 years, we have supported this unique demographic by providing financial assistance, basic human needs, guidance, and more. We also assist our graduates in their pursuit of higher education, workplace readiness, and other opportunities for self-sufficiency.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Alumni Program Coordinator is responsible for engaging YOTO alumni (recent high school graduates) in services and processing service requests. This position supports alumni in accessing community resources, post-secondary planning and engagement in a variety of post-secondary pathways, such as higher education, workforce, career planning and other opportunities. The Alumni Program Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating special post-secondary programs, such as internship programs, scholarship program, and special partnerships in which youth receive stipends for their participation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Review and process alumni applications for enrollment in the program.

Review, ensure alignment to policy requirements, and approve program services such as financial assistance requests, basic needs requests, special services, etc.

Navigate referrals to other agencies for services YOTO does not provide (such as housing, financial assistance, behavioral health, etc.).

Perform outreach strategies to engage YOTO alumni in services.

Travel to community partner sites to support YOTO alumni in service coordination and any special program partnerships. In some cases, set-up regular drop-in hours for YOTO Alumni at various locations in Pima County.

Implement strategies for facilitating communication with youth and YOTO, among community partners and program participants.

Responsible for meeting metrics delineated by the Alumni Program Manager related to site visits, partner contacts, and alumni engagement and success.

Conduct senior meetings / presentations (post-graduation planning) with high school seniors to support youth in developing or executing their plans and transitioning youth into the alumni program post-high school.

Document services and youth interactions (Case notes) accurately in the YOTO Portal (client management system). In some cases, this may include tracking and monitor youth continued success indicators (survey data, participation in guidance, etc.).

Represents YOTO in a professional manner and presents information congruent with organizational policies and procedures. This may include tabling events, presentations or trainings about the YOTO program, presentations about post-secondary pathways, etc.

May assist in other duties related to the administrative aspects of the YOTO program.

II. Post-Secondary Programs & Pathways (45%)

Support alumni in post-secondary pathways and planning (job search, college / university / trade program enrollment, etc.). This may include helping youth apply to college, filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), applying to the military, applying to trade programs, etc.

Regularly check-in and support YOTO youth participating in special YOTO programs such as Scholarship, Earn to Learn, YOTO Ambassador internship program, etc., as assigned.

Work with community partners to advocate for YOTO alumni and encourage youth self-advocacy.

Research and keep up to date on assigned post-secondary pathway (education, workforce, military, etc.) resources, information, and opportunities in order to support youths post-secondary plans. Update any YOTO created materials and community resource materials as needed (create / update workshop content, guidance documents for FAFSA or workforce, etc.).

Recruit and onboard YOTO alumni participants in assigned special programs (YOTO Ambassador, Workforce partnerships, UA Sky School, Scholarship Program, alumni guidance, etc.). Facilitate meetings, coordinate guest speakers, send youth reminders / regularly check in with youth, etc. related to these programs.

III. Mini Mall (5%)

Provide coverage for the YOTO youth drop-in center (Mini-Mall) when needed.

Participate in professional development and continuous learning, both organizational and self-directed.
