Summary
Under the direction of the Radiologist and CT Supervisor, the CT Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with department protocols. This role requires independent work in a fast-paced environment and includes various technical procedures such as interventional cases, CT angiography, and advanced 3D reconstructions. The technologist applies ionizing radiation using the ALARA principle and administers IV, oral, and rectal contrast when necessary. Responsibilities also include equipment maintenance, supply management, and workspace organization. Minimal holiday shifts and backup on-call duty are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Acquire scans in accordance with radiologist and department protocols.
Inform patients about the procedure and provide clear instructions to ensure cooperation.
Assist radiologists during interventional procedures .
Coordinate daily workload by prioritizing emergency department patients, scheduling inpatients, and considering outpatient needs.
Review the IV Contrast Questionnaire with patients receiving IV contrast.
Document procedures accurately in Epic EMR .
Ensure completeness of exams in PACS before submission to the radiologist.
Maintain patient safety at all times.
Be flexible in assisting with 24 / 7 department coverage as needed.
Arrive on time for all assigned shifts, including on-call, holidays, and weekends .
Adhere to all mandatory learning , competencies, and CEU requirements.
Follow the department dress code policy .
Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure patient confidentiality.
Keep the workspace clean, stocked, and organized.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Skills and Knowledge
CT Scan Software : Experience with GE and Siemens preferred.
PACS Software : Familiarity with McKesson Change Healthcare preferred.
Electronic Medical Records : Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
Ability to prepare patients, position them correctly, and acquire scans per protocol.
Proficiency in identifying anatomy, pathology, and contrast enhancement on cross-sectional imaging .
Strong knowledge of radiation safety and ALARA principles .
Ability to troubleshoot CT equipment and coordinate maintenance service when needed.
Understanding of daily QA procedures for CT scan equipment.
Education and Experience
ARRT Certification (Required)
ARRT CT Registry Eligible (Preferred)
NH Imaging License (Required)
BLS Certification (Required)
Previous CT Scan Experience (Required)
