About The Position

Job Title : Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Profession : Allied Level 2 Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Specialty : Nuclear Medicine Tech

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Days, some evenings until 7pm EST; 5x8 hours

Hours per Shift : 8

Experience : 1 year of Nuclear Medicine required; 2 years preferred

License : NYS Rad Tech License

Certifications : Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registered as a Radiologic Technologist and certified in Nuclear Medicine with CT Certification

Must-Have : CT Certification NMTCB-CT or ARRT-CT

Description :

Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.

Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.

Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients' age and ability to understand the procedure to obtain quality images.

Reviews patient information and interprets data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific to age-related needs.

Performs nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Primarily conducts adult outpatient procedures.

Understands and performs various nuclear medicine exams such as bone scans, HIDA scans, thyroid, etc.

Must have experience with conducting PET / CT scans; CT Certification required.

Analyzes results and identifies issues with image quality.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues based on radiologist recommendations.

Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.

Orders, prepares, administers, stores, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols.

Monitors patient condition continually and reports any changes in status.

Maintains an appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms.

Maintains a high level of professionalism in all interactions.

Communicates respectfully and maintains a positive attitude.
