Overview
City Engineer (Water Utilities) – City of Bentonville
Supervises and directs all aspects associated with the water distribution system and wastewater collection & treatment systems including asset management, capital planning, engineering design, project and construction management, business development, and issues relating to operations & maintenance. This position provides direction for the capital and land development teams and delivers direct technical and professional design and technical support to the Water, Sewer Rehab and Wastewater Departments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises 4-6 employees within the Technical Services Team of the Water Utilities Department. Responsible for direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit in accordance with policies and laws, including training, planning, assigning, directing work, performance appraisal, and resolving employee issues.

Education And / or Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in civil or construction engineering and ten (10) years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five-plus (5+) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience in a management or supervisory level; background in water and sewer design is highly encouraged.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or business colleagues. Ability to present information to City management, public groups, engineers, firms, and developers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and perform statistical and engineering calculations as needed for tasks such as design and analysis.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret complex instructions and manage multiple variables.
