AI Application Security (AppSec) Engineer

Job Description : Genesis10 is currently seeking a AI Application Security (AppSec) Engineer with our client in the healthcare industry. This is a 3-month contract position. This role is fully remote. Compensation : $60-68 per hour W2, depending on skill and experience level. Job Description Summary : The main function of an AI Application Security (AppSec) engineer is to plan, coordinate, and implement security measures for AI / ML information systems to regulate access to computer data and prevent unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure of information. A typical Application Security engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the confidential data. Job Responsibilities : - Train staff and users and promote security awareness to ensure system security and to improve server and network efficiency. - Review and approve plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs. - Provide direction on when to update virus protection systems. - Review and approve the implementation of computer system plans with establishment personnel and outside vendors. - Supervise risk assessments and approve the execution of tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures. - Approve the encryption of data transmissions and the building of firewalls to conceal confidential information. Skills : Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time. Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Hands-on experience in red-teaming and penetration testing of AI / ML systems (including LLMs); Automating and integrating application security capabilities in the SDLC / DevOps processes for AI / ML applications. Expert knowledge of Application Security practices including SAST, DAST, SCA, Application Vulnerability Management. Foundational knowledge of Cloud Security and IAM (Identity and Access Management) principles. Education / Experience : Associate's degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. 10+ years' experience required. Hands-on experience in red-teaming and penetration testing of AI / ML systems (including LLMs); Automating and integrating application security capabilities in the SDLC / DevOps processes for AI / ML applications. Expert knowledge of Application Security practices including SAST, DAST, SCA, Application Vulnerability Management. Foundational knowledge of Cloud Security and IAM (Identity and Access Management) principles.
