Position Overview : This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting information needed to make the strategic decisions that impact many facets (land acquisition, sales, product positioning) of the business.

Important functions include quantitative and qualitative market research, competitive intelligence, database development and management.

This position will be based in the following location : Houston, TX

Duties and Responsibilities : (Including but not limited to)

  • Annual Market Positioning Study for the assigned division(s).
  • Feasibility studies for all potential land transactions.
  • In-depth fieldwork to understand market dynamics, the competitive environment, consumer preferences and submarket perceptions.
  • Monitoring of all competitive activity, both active and future projects.
  • Completion of competitive market analyses.
  • Other research projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Experience / Qualifications :

  • Minimum : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required with a preferred background in business, real estate, market research, economics, analytics, urban planning, or construction management
  • Recent or Upcoming graduates, please apply
  • A valid driver’s license and insurance is required should an automobile be utilized for travel as required by this position.

Skills and Knowledge :

  • Knowledge of local economic activity and conditions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with little or no direct supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task / prioritize several tasks without compromising quality or deadlines.
  • Proven organization skills in a high paced work environment.
  • Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as trouble-shoot to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of business English and ability to communicate patiently and professionally with both internal and external customers both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing workplace.
  • High proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Power BI, and ability to learn new programs as needed.

Typical Physical and Mental Demands :

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Must be able to perform calculations.
  • Employees in the position are required to be able to hear and have vision sufficient to utilize all office equipment.
  • Use of hands and fingers is required to utilize standard office equipment.
  • Requires occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Working Conditions :

Work is split between driving to field locations to visit construction job sites and new home sales offices as well as being in a typical office environment using standard office equipment.

Fieldwork may present hazards typical when driving an automobile and will also require standing, walking, and navigating stairs or uneven surfaces.

Office work is typically sedentary in nature.

Fast paced environment subject to numerous schedule changes or short notice activity.

Up to 50 percent of the job will require out of market travel, by automobile or commercial airlines.
