Orchestra Teacher 24-25 School Year
1. Valid Indiana Teaching License with music major.
2. Previous teaching experience in instrumental music desirable.
3. Ability to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and musical experiences.
4. Ability to establish effective rapport with students and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, and other staff members.
5. Implements the mission, goals, objectives, policies, and course of study of the district as adopted by the Board of Trustees.
6. Selects and utilizes repertoire of all types of music that are appropriate for age and skill level of students.
7. Plans a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
8. Encourages students to develop instrumental musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
9. Uses professionally accepted teaching strategies, techniques and materials to achieve identified lesson objectives.
10. Plans, rehearses, and directs pupils in musical programs for school and community.
11. Maintains open communication with parents regarding students’ progress or concerns regarding students.
12. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an atmosphere in the classroom conducive to learning and an orderly environment during group rehearsals and performance.
13. Creates, with assistance from students, a functional and attractive environment for learning.
14. Maintains surveillance over school-owned music, instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs for instruments as required.
15. Maintains professional competence through participation in professional growth activities.
16. Participates in faculty meetings and committee works, as requested.
17. Keeps current on work email and website communications and
technological proficiencies.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
