Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor
Responsibilities
The Substance Use Counselor will :
- Assess patients’ behavioral health needs
- Provide substance use prevention education
- Conduct screenings and brief interventions during and / or after medical appointments
- Provide individual and group counseling
- Refer patients with moderate to severe behavioral health needs to onsite Behavioral Health team or community mental health institutions
- Refer patients with moderate to severe substance use to the onsite Medication Assisted Treatment program or to community partners specializing in detox, intensive outpatient and residential treatment
- Perform other related work, as assigned
Qualifications :
- 2+ years of experience working with Adults with Dually Diagnosis and / or Substance Use issues
- Current Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in good standing
- Demonstrated significant knowledge of Behavioral and Primary Integrated Care models
- Basic knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy based counseling methods and techniques
- Basic knowledge of the Counseling 12 Core Functions of drug and alcohol substance use / abuse
- Basic knowledge of 12-Steps programs and other support groups
- Basic knowledge of case management
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills :
- Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s and / or Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Science or a closely related field
- Experience working in a Medical setting
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records
