Summary of the ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) :
Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility
Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) :
- Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department
- Ensure that reference material (i.e., PDR'S, Federal and State Regulations, etc.) maintained at the nurses' stations is current
- Recommend to the Director written material that will assist the nursing service department in meeting the day-to-day needs of residents
- In the absence of the Director, serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility (i.e., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Budget, Quality Assurance & Assessment, etc.)
- Assist the Director in preparing written and / or oral reports of the nursing service programs and activities to submit to such committee(s)
- Respond to need for staffing shortages by arranging for replacement staff.
- Track infection control, exposure control, and resident care trends to provide proactive improvement. Identify areas of concern and offer recommendations and suggestions to the Director of Nursing.
- Inform Central Supply of any supplies that are needed.
- Other special projects and duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements of the ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) :
- Long Term Care experience is highly preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a current Florida license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
- Must be able to move, lift, and position patients.
- Knowledge of infection control
