Olmstead Policy and Community Engagement Intern
Office : Office of the Chief Disability Officer (Albany)
Supervisor : Chief Disability Officer / Olmstead Strategic Advisor
Overview :
The intern will support the launch and public engagement efforts for New York State’s CDO. This includes outreach related to community integration, inclusion, and accessibility for people with disabilities. The intern will assist in planning and promoting statewide outreach events—including regional town halls and community listening sessions—to ensure diverse stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities / Projects :
- Assist in organizing and promoting community engagement events (town halls, listening sessions, stakeholder meetings).
- Draft accessible outreach materials, agendas, and post-event summaries.
- Develop and maintain a contact list of community-based organizations and advocacy groups across New York.
- Coordinate event logistics and outreach communications with partner agencies.
- Support development of talking points and briefing content for senior leadership.
Preferred Skills :
Strong written and verbal communication skills; outgoing, comfortable speaking with the public.Interest in disability rights, public engagement, and government operations.Experience or coursework in public policy, communications, or public administration.Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.Logistics :
