JOB SUMMARY
The ideal sommelier candidate is proactive, upbeat, thorough, team-oriented, and has an immaculate attention to detail. The sommelier is responsible for delivering excellent wine service, while working with the service team to create world class hospitality. This position will report to the Director of Wine.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively engage in service and lead with a hands-on approach
- Uphold Forbes 5-star Restaurant Standards
- Take the lead in growing wine sales at Caruso’s and Miramar Club
- Anticipate guest needs and maintain positive guest relations at all times
- Advise guests on wines based on their personal taste and food pairings
- Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and with the proper glassware
- Maintain pars and report order needs
- Help maintain the wine cellar and assist in monthly inventories
- Create and participate in staff wine tasting and educational opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas
- Complete opening side and closing side duties thoroughly and efficiently as assigned
- Model the company’s culture, vision, mission and core values at all times
REQUIREMENTS
Experience as a sommelier in fine dining or luxury resort preferred but not requiredCMS or WSET certifications or equivalent from another accredited wine institutionPassionate about wine, food, and world class hospitalityWarm, friendly and an excellent communicatorAbility to teach and encourage service staff to develop their wine knowledgeExtensive knowledge of wine and formal wine serviceWorking knowledge of cocktails and spiritsAvailability to work nights, weekends & holidays
