Description
The YMCA of Orange County has full time (9 : 45am-6 : 15pm) Assistant Child Care Director positions available. Assistant Child Care Directors work with the Director to run an afterschool program for school age children (5-12 years of age).
Responsibilities / Duties :
- Plan, prepare, supervise, implement, and evaluate programs.
- Ensure the safety of children and staff.
- Assist in developing and managing operating budget per enrollment.
- Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the YMCA.
- Responsible for recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training for paid and volunteer staff.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of all staff and volunteers at the Child Care Site
- Implement staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintain positive parent-staff and community-school relationships.
- Manage and supervise the family billing process to ensure billings are accurate and fees are collected timely.
- Maintain the arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the Child Care Site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
What you need to apply :
- Experience working with children ages 5-12 years of age, in an after school program setting.
- 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development, Education or related field & 6 units in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, Music, or related field.
3 units or 60 training hours in Administration required or must be enrolled in Administration class within 6 months of hire.
- Based on minimum education, experience would range between 1-4 years.

Education & Certification :
- Licensing Option 1 : Education & Certifications : EMSA First Aid & EMSA CPR Certification, 15 college units accepted by licensing (3 units in Child Development, and 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration, and 9 units or 180 training hours in Recreation, Elementary Education or related field) required.
- Licensing Option 2 : Education & Certifications : 2 year college degree in related field, EMSA First Aid & EMSA CPR Certification, 15 college units accepted by licensing (3 units in Child Development, and 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration, and 9 units or 180 training hours in Recreation, Elementary Education or related field) required.
- Licensing Option 3 : Education & Certifications : 4 year college degree in related field, EMSA First Aid & EMSA CPR Certification, 15 college units accepted by licensing (3 units in Child Development, and 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration, and 9 units or 180 training hours in Recreation, Elementary Education or related field) required.
- Licensing Option 4 : A Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience & Background :
- Licensing Option 1 : Must be at least 21 years of age. 4 years of experience working with children, previous supervision of staff, and completion of all requirements for 16 hour Preventative Health Practices required.
- Licensing Option 2 : Must be at least 21 years of age. 2 years of experience working with children, previous supervision of staff, and completion of all requirements for 16 hour Preventative Health Practices required.
- Licensing Option 3 : Must be at least 21 years of age. 1 year of experience working with children, previous supervision of staff, and completion of all requirements for 16 hour Preventative Health Practices required.
