Lab Technician
Position Summary
Process various types of samples and maintain related quality assurance documentation.
Essential Job Functions
- Processing samples and maintain quality assurance documentation in both Chemistry and Microbiology lab
- Report and verify results for all types of lab tests
- Participate in the operations of all areas of the lab, including but not limited to quality management system tasks
- Notify management if departure from normal procedure is identified
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of laboratory experience in food industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge with all reference materials within the lab including MSDS sheets, SOP manual, and Quality Manual
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, present complex ideas concisely and clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing
- Ability to build professional relationships with Food Safety and cross functional teams while facilitating a collaborative environment.
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently
Environmental / Working Conditions
- Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, 1st, 2nd and / or 3rd shifts
- Ability to work in temperature conditions between 35 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit; may occasionally exceed 95 degrees Fahrenheit
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers in a repetitive motion. Frequently required to stand, walk and reach above the head.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is required to lift a minimum of ten (10) lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office levels to loud factory / warehouse levels.
