ICU RN Job Details – Chesapeake, VA Location : Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Coastal Virginia healthcare jobs) Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 2 / 16 / 2026) Shift : 12-hour day shifts (07 : 00 – 19 : 30) Schedule : 3x12 or 4x12-hour shifts per week (flexible scheduling for travel nurses) Employment Type : Travel RN, On-Site Weekly Hours : 36-48 (overtime available after 48 hours for 4x12 schedule) Estimated Weekly Salary : $1680–$1800 per week Patient Ratios : 1 : 2-3 (ICU nurse standard) Weekend and Holiday Coverage : Required ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of application Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (3 years preferred; strong candidates with less considered) Strong neuro ICU experience required (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke care) Proficiency with ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia, and emergency management Certifications : BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association), and NIHSS EPIC EMR charting experience required Willingness to float to Stepdown, Emergency Department (ED), or MedSurg units as needed No prior license or background hits; facility requires a clean record Must pass EKG testing (80% or higher required, one attempt only) Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates; travel nursing only) ICU Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit Manage patient populations including neurosurgical / post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis / MODS, and heart failure / post-cardiac cath Perform and monitor advanced neuro care, including EVD and post-neurosurgical management Administer and titrate IV drips, manage ventilators, and provide telemetry monitoring Respond to emergencies and manage dysrhythmias Float to Stepdown, ED, or MedSurg units as needed to provide ICU-level care Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR Participate in required orientation and complete pre-start modules Join our healthcare team in Chesapeake, Virginia, and experience rewarding travel nursing opportunities in a supportive environment.
