Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring TNCC and a NM or compact RN license, with preference for Level I trauma experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching hospital settingPatient population includes high-acuity ED patients, with 60%-80% admitted and many rooms functioning as ED holdingPatient ratio is 1 : 5Floating to Adult PCUs is expected and there may be floating to ED Holding and Trauma areas depending on staffing needsOptional floating to Pediatric EDUses Cerner for chartingNight shift schedule (3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30) with weekend days / nights as neededBoth 36 and 48-hour per week contracts are availableNo on-call requirementsBlack scrubs required (not provided)Administer medications, including IV medications, and document and communicate clinical findingsIncreased number of admit holds currently in the EDFirst-time travelers accepted if they have 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience; travel experience strongly preferredTravelers must be fully available for compliance activities in the 1-2 weeks following acceptanceDrug screening required within 30 days of start dateRTO greater than 7 days needs approval; holiday time-off requests limited to one holiday setTravelers can work up to 12 consecutive months before a break is requiredPerm employees may return as travelers if they have been out of the health system for at least 12 monthsFree parking available onsiteRequirements
Active NM or compact RN license (may be pending at time of consideration)Minimum 2 years of ER experience required (1.5 years may be reviewed); Level I trauma experience strongly preferredCurrent certifications required : ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (at time of consideration), and NIHSS (can be pending until compliance due date)No RQI certifications acceptedCOVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions considered upon approved documentationNo local candidates within 75 miles acceptedPersonal transportation requiredDriver’s license (non-local) or written transportation plan required for complianceBenefits
