Position Summary
The Data Analyst plays a key role in the creation of datasets for business consumption. Review, analyze and evaluate business systems and user needs. Document requirements, define scope and objectives to understand data and analysis needs. Partner with development and data management roles to identify and capture data required from internal and external sources.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the gathering, analysis, and interpretation of data
- Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
- Analyze raw data and provide requirements to the development team for the creation of new datasets in accordance with business requirements
- Design and implement data models for reporting and analytics.
- Documenting and communicating the results of your efforts; lead feedback sessions with stakeholders
- Serving as a liaison between stakeholders and development team
- Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements
- Organizing and performing user acceptance testing
- Provide information and recommendations to leadership on both regular and ad-hoc basis
- Uses data visualization programs, tools and techniques to generate dashboards, reports and presentations that aid in data storytelling, understanding and interpretation of trends and patterns of business importance
Qualifications, Knowledge, & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related technical field, or equivalent practical experienceExperience with data manipulation, data profiling, database design and interpretationStrong business acumen to work with business owners and translate analysis into actionsExperience with BI tools such as Power BI and TableauSolid understanding of relational database concepts; experience with databases, database management tools, ERD and SQLExperience with graph databases and query languagesExperience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) a plusExperience with Agile software development (preferred)Experience with SQL and ExcelAbility to reengineer data models with or without documentationFamiliar with client-server conceptsStrong communication and collaboration abilitiesExperience with consumer data, hospitality or cruise industry a plus
