Polymer Extrusion Operator needed in North Austin
The Polymer Extrusion Operator is responsible for operating a 1 extrusion system to manufacture high-quality thermoplastic tubing that meets strict dimensional and quality specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with polymer extrusion and a working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts. Overtime may be required and will be coordinated with the Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities :
Extrusion Operations & Production Support
Operate polymer extrusion machinery in accordance with safety and quality guidelines.
Clean assemble and disassemble the extrude and associated components.
Train and become a subject matter expert on extrusion equipment.
Monitor and adjust production parameters to ensure optimal efficiency and output quality.
Conduct in-process quality inspections using gauges micrometers microscopes and other precision tools.
Identify and correct any quality deviations or equipment issues to minimize scrap.
Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
Support full manufacturing process from raw materials to finished goods packaging.
Assist with resin measurement mixing and loading into the extrusion system.
Maintain steady work product flow to meet internal and external delivery deadlines.
Communicate effectively with peers engineering and quality personnel.
Use resource planning software to fulfill sales orders and manage inventory levels.
Maintain accurate production and materials usage records.
Manage raw material inventory and ensure availability for production needs.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with the Production Manager and Engineering teams on product and process development.
Health Safety & Environment Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Participate in safety training and report any hazards or incidents.
Ensure compliance with site safety policies and safe work instructions.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Quality Responsibilities
Support Quality Policy and Objectives.
Use problem-solving techniques for quality and process improvement.
Report non-conformances and contribute to root cause analysis.

Qualifications & Experience
Education :
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience :
35 years of hands-on experience operating polymer extrusion systems.
Previous experience working within an ISO 9001 Quality System preferred.
Skills & Knowledge :
Basic ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
Understanding of polymers and rheological behavior.
Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis.
Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical understanding.
Problem-solving experience using Root Cause Analysis.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 methodology and quality concepts.
