Overview

The Laboratory Technician 3 position is responsible for providing high quality service to the laboratory to ensure timely and accurate specimen handling throughout the respective laboratory sections, includes internal and external lab members while working in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, this position provides high level technical support at the interface of science and clinical laboratory sections in regards to clinical laboratory specimen processing and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Specimen handling and distribution.
  • Use of Information Systems.
  • Customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with CMH shared values and service excellence programs.
  • Maintains general operations of the laboratory performs quality assurance activities using molecular biology including PCR, cloning and vector construction to dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms of a particular biological process of lab interest.
  • Perform microinjection and electroporation methods, and RNA techniques including multiplexed fluorescence in-situ hybridization and RT-PCR.
  • Perform laser scanning confocal microscopy data collection and image analysis / quantitation.
  • Assistance with media preparation and tissue culture will also be part of the position.
  • Projects will be team-based and will have an individual research component.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree and 3-5 years experience related lab experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years experience related lab experience

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $21.01 / hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work / Work from Home

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
