Production Manager
Focal Point has an immediate opening for a seasoned Production Manager to oversee the operations of our Fabrication and Paint Production Teams. This person will exercise judgment where appropriate in managing and ensuring the efficient operation of the Fabrication and Paint Departments. This person will be held responsible for safety, quality, equipment condition, and the efficient operation of the equipment and planning of product to be produced in the Fabrication Department. This position reports to the Plant Manager
What Will You Do?
Roles & Responsibilities
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in conjunction with plant safety champion and support staff.
• Champion lean practices, operational efficiency and the identification of opportunities to increase manufacturing capacity while preserving overall flexibility and response to changing business demands.
• Coordinate and direct work activities of Fabrication and Paint Supervisors and departmental staff in a multi facility environment.
• Coordinates the activities of production with Scheduling and Assembly Departments to ensure that work is produced on-time in a balanced flow method.
• Working with the manufacturing team to coordinate the activities of production with those of quality assurance personnel to ensure that specifications and quality levels meet or exceed established standards. Ensure all production is compliant with established ISO standards and all personnel assigned are properly trained to sustain compliance.
• Partner with Industrial Engineering to ensure that labor, materials utilization, and product flow are continuously monitored and adjusted to support continuous safety, quality, and productivity improvement.
• Lead teams to recognize performance, rewarding good performance and initiating appropriate corrective actions to improve poor performance. Ownership of the human capital in Fabrication and Paint areas in order to meet the continuously changing needs of the business.
• Develop analytics, system and data management capabilities including metrics and reports.
• Establish and improve on business processes by implementing breakthrough techniques regarding process by removing barriers, motivating and empowering employees and engaging the workforce.
• Develop the departmental staff by identifying skill gaps and providing the appropriate training and coaching to have a highly competent and engaged workforce. These include Safety, Environmental, Quality and all other Focal Point Company policies.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, using Total Preventative Maintenance philosophies, to ensure optimal uptime of the equipment at the lowest operating costs.
• Participate in or lead initiatives to procure equipment including scope definition, requirements gathering, cost / benefit analysis, price negotiations and business and financial approval.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related practical science with a strong foundation in business administration and manufacturing
• 7 - 10 years of experience in manufacturing management required
• Managerial experience in a team-based environment
• ERP and data warehouse systems experience (JD Edwards, Data Access Studio, and PLM a plus)
• Experience reading and understanding blueprints
• Demonstrated experience with a QMS, Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO
• Experience establishing and managing preventative and predictive maintenance systems
• Experience using quality measurement tools such as rulers, calipers, linear measuring tables, etc.
• Comfortable with a variety of software systems, including MS0365
• Strong manufacturing background; sheet metal fabrication experience preferred, paint operations experience a plus
