Job Summary
Work in the Academic Advising office as the initial contact for all guests to Advising. Perform receptionist duties in a positive, cheerful, professional, and enthusiastic manner.
Assist with crowd management during the months with the highest intake of students. Front Desk coverage needed is Monday and Wednesday 1pm 7pm and Thursday 1pm 5pm, however, work location and hours may vary depending on the needs of the department.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Provide a warm and welcoming environment to all incoming students and guests of the Academic Advising office.
Assist students, both in person and over the phone, in scheduling appointments to see their advisors. Effectively manage and triage students and redirect them to other services as needed.
Proactively notify advisors of demand of services. Refer students to campus resources. Access the A-Z index on the college website as well as the Advising website for information to provide students with quick answers to frequently asked questions.
Flexibility with work hours during RUSH and for sick, vacation, or other coverage. Other duties as assigned. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications High School graduate or GED and one year of work experience in an office setting.

- Have a cheerful disposition and enjoy working with a diverse staff and student body, both over the phone and in-person.
- Understand the functions of the Student Affairs offices.
- Have a demonstrated ability finding information on the SLCC website.
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a broad range of students, faculty and staff with diverse abilities, cultures, socioeconomic, academic and ethnic backgrounds to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Assist other support staff with special projects, calling campaigns, flyer creation and / or event planning / decorating as needed.
