The Precision Control Actuation System department is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the multi-disciplinary PCAS organization to support the development, build, and verification specialty control actuation systems, where the individual will specifically be responsible for incorporation of design improvements and verification for Electromagnetic environments. This role supports an integrated product team and therefore requires cross-functional and cross-discipline collaboration.

What You Will Do

You will provide various mechanical engineering support for a specialty CAS, including incorporation of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) protection and resulting verification. Based on skillsets, support may include but not limited to detailed mechanical design, earned value management, test design and execution, and systems engineering.

You will be expected to flex responsibilities based on the current needs of the organization and their respective skill sets.

At this grade level, you will be expected to work autonomously with limited oversight, have advanced knowledge of the control mechanism development domain, and coach and review the work of lower level professionals

What You Will Learn

The PCAS organization provides ample opportunities for hands-on hardware work, with a dedicated lab space at our Huntsville and Tucson facility.

PCAS mechanical engineers are exposed to a variety of lab activities including engineering builds, hardware integration, hardware tuning, and hardware verification.

The PCAS organization provides a strong technical learning environment with a dedicated control system technology pyramid comprised of engineering fellows.

PCAS mechanical engineers are provided the opportunity for direct access to these subject matter experts, fostering accelerated technical growth.

Qualifications You Must Have :

Education : B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math or related science degree

A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering

Experience in mechanical mechanism design OR flight control systems for aerospace applications

• ? Qualifications We Prefer :

Experience developing flight control systems for aerospace applications

Experience managing a small team of engineers (1-5 individuals) through Technical Data Package updates and for-score performance and environmental testing

Knowledge of design and verification test of systems for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (EEE) and / or EMI environments

Experience collaborating with major subtier suppliers to achieve compliant design and test deliverables, as well as hardware

Experience using structured approaches to solving issues including Fault Trees and / or fishbone diagrams

Experience with Creo modeling software and Windchill / cPDM for TDP maintenance and support including peer review process, change board process, variances, supplier requests and change notices

Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics

Basic proficiency with model development and data analysis in MATLAB / Simulink

Experience working with and integrating hardware.

Systems engineering design and development

Experience with dSPACE Real-time test systems

Proven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower-level work packages and tasks

Ability to estimate project / tasks level of effort

Ability to cross collaborate with geographically distributed teams

Experience and certifications in Earned Value Project Management

Ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiences

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
