I’m currently recruiting for a well-funded DeepTech Start-up based in the Bay Area, CA. They’re building foundational models for Biotechnology research, focusing on proprietary LLMs and Diffusion models.

They work across multiple domains; Drug Design / Discovery, Biomarker discovery and Protein Engineering. They’re building a platform that aims to accelerate the development of AI tools for Biotech.

The role itself is a Staff level position within their ML engineering team. You’ll be joining an exceptionally talented team, with alumni from Google and Microsoft.

This position covers the entire R&D to production pipeline of machine learning. You’ll not only be building novel approaches to particularly complex computer science problems, but working to deploy them on platforms.

The team pride themselves on being at the forefront of AI, and you’ll be comfortable working within the latest academic developments on Generative AI, Deep Learning and LLMs.

You’ll also be expected to write production ready code, and be happy to work within modern software engineering techniques / methodologies.

Whilst the role does have a heavy domain focus on Biotechnology, you won’t need to have any prior knowledge in this field.

The ideal background for somebody will be a PhD in Computer Science or Machine Learning it’s the fundamental knowledge of how machine learning works that is most desired.

• PhD in Computer Science or Machine Learning or other relevant subject area.
• Experience working in an AI Start-up or other similar environment.
• Expertise in Deep Learning or Generative AI or Large Language Modelling.
• Publication record in top papers and relevant areas.
• Demonstrable experience building foundational models in a commercial setting.
• Very strong Python (PyTorch / TensorFlow) skills, knowledge of AWS, Docker, Ci / CD.
• Exceptional communication skills and experience working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

The total package for this role is up to $300,000, with a competitive basic and attractive equity package on offer.
