Accounting Associate

Job Title : Staff Accountant needed in Tampa FL! This is 5 days a week on site. This role will start before the New Year!

Job Description

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance team by handling a variety of accounting tasks, including tax compliance assistance, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, a strong grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing, reviewing, and filing sales and use tax returns.

Ensure adherence to all applicable state and local tax regulations.

Accurately and promptly prepare and post journal entries.

Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Support implementation and ongoing compliance with ASC 842 lease accounting standards.

Gather and report data for lease-related transactions.

Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes.

Collaborate with internal teams to maintain accurate financial reporting.

Participate in special projects and ad-hoc assignments as needed.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (or equivalent experience)

1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. (ERP experience is a plus)

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, including debits and credits.

Experienced with journal entries and knowledgeable in sales and use tax.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00 / hr.
