The authorized level of the position is Building Construction Inspector II. Applications are being accepted down to the Building Construction Inspector I in the event of recruiting difficulties. Salary Range: $4,388.00 per month for Building Construction Inspector I and $4,933.00 per month for Building Construction Inspector II.
The Facilities Development Branch is located in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The job is a 12-month position with the Classified / OSFSS district.
Examples of duties include inspecting and measuring construction materials used, checking methods employed in the construction at hand, inspecting the erection of false work and concrete forms used, accepting or rejecting concrete forms, construction equipment and materials based on specifications or modifications approved by a higher-level inspector, keeping detailed work-completed and materials-used records, preparing and submitting routine inspection reports, and preparing monthly progress reports concerning the construction project.
Minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or one year of any work experience requiring the ability to read, comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill. Applicants must have progressively responsible experience in the building construction trades which required the knowledge of building construction methods and materials, safety requirements and practices, inspection of the quality of the construction materials and workmanship, and the reading of plans and specifications. A current, valid driver's license is also required.
Temporary positions may be extended year to year, dependent upon funding and departmental needs. A person hired for a temporary position may also become a temporary employee upon satisfactory completion of the initial probation period of at least six months.

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
