AST employs approximately 185 skilled professionals across multi-shift operations, ensuring efficiency, precision, and timely delivery for mission-critical industries.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on and experienced production supervisor to oversee daily operations across one of the following manufacturing departments machining, spinning, forging, and support functions. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating teams of operators, setup technicians, and other production staff to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on the shop floor. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, problem-solver, and motivator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day shop floor activity, ensuring production schedules are met and resources are used efficiently
- Provide direct leadership and guidance to operators, setup operators, technicians, machinist, and other production staff
- Monitor performance and hold team members accountable to safety, quality, and productivity standards
- Ensure jobs are properly set up and run in alignment with work instructions, travelers, and engineering specifications
- Coordinate with planning, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve production or equipment issues
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as first-pass yield, machine uptime, and labor efficiency
- Support and enforce safety policies and procedures; conduct safety audits and participate in incident investigations as needed
- Train, coach, and cross-train employees to build workforce flexibility and strengthen team capabilities
- Monitor material flow and ensure parts are staged and moved correctly between work centers
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or technical degree preferredMinimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory roleStrong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams under pressureComfortable interpreting blueprints, travelers, and work instructionsFamiliarity with ERP systems and basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, digital production boards)Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, planning, quality, and upper managementStrong time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize and delegate in a dynamic environmentCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement principlesMachine Shop or Machining Experience is a plusWhy Join AST?
