SUMMARY :
The Food Service Assistant provides support in areas such as production, safety, sanitation, customer service, catered events and other aspects as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Prepare and serve daily meals in accordance with the menu. This also includes preparing and the set up / break down of on-site events.
- Provide exceptional & timely customer service to all individuals that enter the food service area.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships among staff, residents and community volunteers.
- Quality food production within the HACCP program to maintain food safety. Establish a safe & sanitary work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
At least 6 months of cooking experience preferred.1+ year experience working with large groups of people.Experience with non-profit organizations recommended.G.E.D or High School Diploma or equivalent experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
U.S labor and health laws, mass quantity cookingCooking, Baking.Ability to adapt to changing priorities, with a sense of urgencyExcellent customer service skills.Experience working with vulnerable populations.Ability to be professional, flexible, respectful, and calm.Ability to work well with others.Ability to lead by example.Bilingual in English and Spanish and / or English and Creole preferred.
