The Workflow Design Engineer - Service Now works directly with firm clients, stakeholders, and the internal ServiceNow development team to design and deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions on the ServiceNow platform. Acting as a subject matter expert, this role ensures legal team requirements are translated into scalable ServiceNow workflows, applications, and automations while adhering to development best practices and governance standards. Responsibilities include evaluating and optimizing existing ServiceNow processes for performance and maintainability, documenting and updating developer standards, and ensuring proper supporting documentation for all solutions. The position will also focus on process re-engineering and workflow implementation.

Essential job functions include :

  • Provide engineering solutions, and consulting, on Service Now workflow identification, optimization and implementation strategy for litigation and transactional matters including design, development, implementation and documentation of workflows based on interaction with legal teams and clients.
  • Utilize exceptional expert level programming experience and capabilities enabling highly efficient workflow processes.
  • Work with litigation and transactional practice group leaders, attorneys, business managers, and clients to ensure maximum productivity of legal personnel with appropriate use of Workflow Design solutions.
  • Lead pre and post project analysis to discover and reduce workflow inefficiencies and obstacles, and identify, design, and apply quality control processes and improvements.
  • Construct workflow charts and diagrams, study system capabilities, and assist in writing specifications.
  • Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
  • Staying up to date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Effectively communicating insights and plans to cross-functional team members, management, and firm clients.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
  • Maintain user confidence and project operations by keeping information confidential and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Learning or expanding knowledge of legal practice specific processes and procedures.
  • Suggest changes to senior management using analytics to support your recommendations. Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
  • Other duties as coordinated or assigned from time to time by Senior Director of Information Technology and Information Governance.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience with the Service Now App Engine platform including workflow development, server maintenance, and performing upgrades.
  • Exceptional expert level programming abilities with 5+ years of experience with one of many languages such as Java, .Net, C#, C++, SQL, Python, API's, and SOAP / Rest Services.
  • Experience with RPA, Microsoft Power Apps, Flow, and Azure preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Proven experience in eliciting requirements and testing.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Experience with mentoring junior level developers preferred.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no assistance, and to make decisions and recommendations to upper management.

    Compensation And Benefits

    Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows :

  • State of California : $94,000 - $180,000
  • State of Colorado : $87,000 - $155,000
  • State of Illinois : $85,000 - $165,000
  • State of Maryland : $91,000 - $138,000
  • State of Massachusetts : $94,000 - $180,000
  • State of Minnesota : $94,000 - $156,000
  • Jersey City, NJ : $102,000 - $186,000
  • State of New York : $88,000 - $190,000
  • State of Vermont : $93,000 - $179,000
  • State of Washington : $91,000 - $173,000
  • Washington, D.C. : $122,000 - $179,000
  • The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
